Description
This course explores the application of the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for achieving social change in the unique landscape where nonprofit, business, and government efforts collide. Students are expected to engage the community around them and to apply their understanding in a field-based project to learn about challenges facing people within the community and to participate in the creation of solutions to address a social problem. The intention of this course is to apply Dallas Baptist University's mission (Christ-centered, quality higher education with the goal of graduating servant leaders) to real-life problems that face people in our own community and around the world. To this end, the course will challenge students to recognize the complexity that underlies social problems and to diligently develop the knowledge, skills, and commitment necessary to effectively be the hands and feet of Christ in service to others. This course contains a field-based service-learning component.
