Academic Standing Policy

A student's academic record is evaluated at the end of the fall and spring terms and posted to the student's transcript.

There are two categories for academic standing of a student's academic record.

  1. BY TERM GPA

    1. Honors List - The Academic Honors List is composed of students who are taking 12 or more credit hours in the spring or fall term and have a grade point average of 3.50 or higher for the term, with no grade below a C or a 2.00 GPA.

    2. Dean's List - The Dean's List is composed of those students who are taking 12 or more credit hours in the spring or fall term and have a grade point average of 3.75 or higher for the term, with no grade below a C or a 2.00 GPA.

    3. President's List - The President's List is composed of those students who are taking 12 or more credit hours in the spring or fall term and have a grade point average of 4.00 for the term.

  2. BY CUMULATIVE GPA

    1. Academic Probation - See Academic Probation, Suspension and Withdrawal.

    2. Academic Suspension - See Academic Probation, Suspension and Withdrawal.

Once the academic standings have been evaluated for the term, a copy of the Academic Standings Report is sent to the President, Provost, Associate Provost, Vice President for Student Affairs, Vice President for International Affairs, Athletic Director, and Director of Advising Center for notification. Once the notification has been received by each administrator, the honors lists are made available for publication and the academic probation and suspension letters are mailed to the appropriate students. The academic standing is posted to the student's transcript.
