VISION OF THE CARTER SCHOOL OF BUSINESS

To honor God by becoming a leader in Christ-centered business education.

Inherent in the DBU CSB Mission/Vision is a commitment to extraordinary business education that is unapologetically Christ-centered and biblically-based. In the unfolding of this mission/vision, we are striving to become a global leader in this market niche, and we will work to be among the thought leaders in business education, embedding a biblical worldview in course content that then finds its expression in graduates, faculty, centers, partners, community, and scholarly output that promote human flourishing.

MISSION OF THE CARTER SCHOOL OF BUSINESS

We exist to produce exemplary servant leaders and followers who blend a Kingdom mindset and market knowledge for the glory of God. (2 Chronicles 15:7, Matthew 5:13–16)

In the Carter School of Business, we have created our programs and curricula in light of the overarching mission of Dallas Baptist University. We provide business baccalaureate and masters degrees, as well as various certificate- and badge-related coursework. Specifically, we are working to produce exemplary students and graduates who are equipped to both lead and serve in the marketplace. Our culture, worldview, and coursework are aimed at shaping these servant leaders and followers according to the market knowledge necessary for creating value, as well as the Kingdom wisdom found throughout the Bible. This is done in the light of our call to love our neighbors through solving problems and addressing the maladies negatively impacting humankind.

We will live out the mission – and approach the vision – of the DBU Carter School of Business through our efforts in achieving four major Initiatives to propel forward the School’s marketplace impact and simultaneously facilitate the fulfillment of the University Mission and Vision. These four major Initiatives aim at creating value through the Carter School of Business in the following areas:

1. Embolden Kingdom Impact by enhancing our faculty qualifications and scholarship.. We aim to integrate the Christian faith with business learning in all of our courses, and in all of our market interactions. We desire to be among the premier sources of published data and research on the interweaving of faith, learning, and business practice.

2. Enliven Community and Societal Impact by building a Christ-centered community among faculty, staff, students, and the community that is dedicated to mutual growth, well-being, discipleship, and fulfillment. According to this calling, we aim to build a supportive environment that facilitates the mission and vision of the School, reflects the diversity of our communities, serves our communities, and invites new friends into the family.

3. Enact Marketplace Impact by engaging in partnerships with the various marketplace entities that are key stakeholders in our mission. According to this calling, we aim to create mutually beneficial value for and from these partners in a way that glorifies God and enacts the School’s Vision. (Prov. 22:1; James 4:13-15)

4. Enrich Academic Impact by being focused on our primary mission which is the academic and spiritual development of our students. According to this calling, we aim to enrich the lives and ministries of our students through rigorous, relevant academic programs and curricula that reflect the needs of the world in which they will be serving, leading, and creating.
