Program Description

The purpose of the Bachelor of Arts in Music is to provide a rich yet broad education in music within the context of the Christian liberal arts tradition which prepares the student to live of life of service, function professionally as a musician, and to enter graduate/professional study.

The student in the BA degree program must complete a minimum of 11 credit hours of applied study, 4 hours of which must be upper-level selected from the Primary Instrument.

A 120-credit-hour minimum for a bachelor's degree is required, including 36 upper-level credit hours.

At least 12 credit hours in the major program must be completed at Dallas Baptist University, including nine upper-level course hours.

Minimum GPA Required for Graduation from Dallas Baptist University: DBU requires a minimum institutional cumulative, major, and minor GPA of 2.0.

A minimum grade of C- is required for all music courses within a music major field of study.
