Description

The student pursuing a piano concentration or piano performance major will enroll in this course number while in the fourth semester of Applied Piano (MUSI 2120, 2121, 2122, 2220, 2221, or 2222). The student will submit videos into Blackboard for the new skills mastered in Level VIIB. There will be a live exam, separate from the final piano jury in Applied Piano to spot-check the previous skills learned in four-octave ranges: All major, harmonic minor, melodic minor scales, major scales in 3rds and 10ths, major scales in contrary motion, chromatic scales beginning on any key, all major and minor arpeggios in all inversions, all Maj-min 7th arpeggios, all fully-diminished 7th arpeggios, all major broken chords, and all minor broken chords. The student will also review the preparation of a choral anthem and the reading of an open score up to and including four parts. The scores from the videos submitted and the scores from the live exam will be averaged. This score will become the technical score on the student's final repertoire jury exam for applied piano. The average of the jury grades must be 80% or higher to constitute completion of the level. A deficiency in any skill area may result in an average below 80%. A jury average below 80% does not constitute completion of the level; therefore, the student will receive a grade of NC (No Credit). A jury average of 80% or higher constitutes successful completion of the level and the student will receive a semester grade of CR (Credit). The student must enroll for this course number until the level is completed successfully.
