MUSI2023A

The student will enroll in MUSI 2023A concurrently with Applied Piano (MUSI 1120, 1121, 1122, 1220, 1221, 1222, 2120, 2121, 2122, 2220, 2221, or 2222) while attempting to pass MUSI 2023A Piano Proficiency Level III. MUSI 2023A serves as transcript verification for the skills that the student will master while taking an Applied Piano Course. The keyboard skills include: collaborative piano (playing written accompaniments while singing the melody or collaborating with another musician), playing from lead sheets with the melody prominent, creation of a Happy Birthday lead sheet but performance by memory while singing, and open score reading. There will be no memorized repertoire for this proficiency. The student will perform before a faculty jury at the end ofthe semester ofthe concurrent Applied Piano course. Averages of skills are calculated first. If any category scores below 70%, the student will receive the grade of No Credit (NC) for this course. If all categories are 70% or higher, the grade for this course will be Credit (CR). The student must enroll in MUSI 2023A until the level is completed successfully.
