This course serves as a general overview of applied helping skills for those who are considering the counseling/psychology professions or related professions as a career. Students will learn and practice the basic helping skills needed in human service settings. Special attention is given to the qualities and skills that influence the helping relationship. The effects of social and cultural diversity on the helping relationship will also be explored.
